My Problem
1/2 cup of water-spill over keyboard made my MacBook Air 13" inoperable.
My Fix
Apple wanted $750 for repair. After internet research and agonizing a lot over the situation I discovered ifixit.com. In short time I learned the way to open the back of the unit, clean the corrosion and identify the faulty parts. In my case a shorted out battery.
My Advice
The battery came in 2 1/2 days. My 9 year-old daughter learned with me how to change a battery and I'm positive she can doit on her own next time if occurs.
We felt that we gained not just experience doing the task but the same time we earned (saved) some serious money. The all deal cost us less than $150.
Pay attention to instructions be gentle on connections .
Go for it. Is simple as 1-2-3.
