My Problem

Replacing failed SSD

My Fix

Everything went well. Only Sony should have found better speaker covers (current ones may tear or require gluing back) as you access screws or better still screws could have been installed elsewhere. The only issue I now face is lack of sound from internal speaker/headphones. After reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 i downloaded from Microsoft because I don't have an original recovery disc. The speaker icon is muted and when i hover it says "No output device is installed" Tried to install drivers from Sony site nothing happens. Troubleshoot says could not find any audio services. Is it possible i disturbed the sound card? Out of curiosity, where is the sound card located and what is the role of the yellow flexible flat cable above the ssd? BTW I can play music via a wireless speaker. I would appreciate any help regarding the same

My Advice

Remember to keep track (label) of the screws as you disassemble because they are of different lengths. Ensure you separate the ones used outside and inside.
