The missing try-wing screwdriver

Robert More -

My Problem

My wife's 2009 MacBook Pro laptop works fine, except that the battery was "swelling" which meant it was defective - and a fire hazard! Unfortunately, this model MacBook is no longer supported by Apple. Thus, we ordered a battery online, and all went well until I discovered the battery was held in place by trip-wing screws. I had never seen them before, but a quick Google search provided illumination. However, I did not have a try-wing appropriate screwdriver, and we were leaving for a summer of RV travel in a few days. The IFixit website had the needed device - and an option for 2 day delivery - pricy, but worth it in this case.

My Fix

The screwdriver was perfect for the job, and the battery installed in five minutes. The computer is back to functioning normal.

My Advice

If you have an older MacBook Pro laptop, and plan to replace the battery yourself, you might want to order a try-point screwdriver
