13" Retina MacBook Pro battery replacement
cucuzza -
My Problem
The battery life was down to less than two hours.
My Fix
It was a success. There were some difficult moments and I was very methodical, which is why it took two hours and not just one.
My Advice
Be prepared to spend some quality time removing the original adhesive that's sticking the stock battery to the unibody case. Time and heat had made it a mighty bond that was VERY hard to remove. And you have to be careful because you don't want to puncture the Li-ion battery, as that could blow up in your face. Literally. Even after I managed to pry the old battery off in one piece, there were patches of old adhesive that I had to scrape off and clean off with rubbing alcohol.
The tool of choice was not a spudger but a plastic scraper tool shaped kind of like a credit card but about three times thicker. Gently and firmly shoving and prying with that eventually separated the battery from the case.
