My Problem

As I was heading to New Zealand to further my education, I've decided to replace the battery of my Macbook Pro as it was barely holding a charge after a few years of service. After consulting the iFixit guide, I made a decision to upgrade the laptop to speed it up. The parts changed are as followed:

1) 256GB Crucial MX100 SSD to replace the existing HDD

2) 8 GB Corsair ram upgrade (which is now replaced with a pair of 16GB Crucial)

3) Reapplying the thermal paste (Noctua) on the CPU & GPU heatsink

4) And of course, the battery itself

The battery was ordered from iFixit and the rest of the components were acquired from assorted channels.

My Fix

Instructions were clear-cut. However, the initial parts replacement were delayed due to the lack of a Tri-wing and Torx head screwdriver to remove the screws that was holding down the battery and the logicboard. Every component was disassembled and reassembled without a hitch after the appropriate screwdrivers were acquired.

My Advice

The guides are extremely accurate. It's really hard to mess up the repair unless you do not follow the instructions to a T.
