My Problem
Was getting the YLOD on my First Gen PS3.
My Fix
I researched how much repair cost and it generally was over $100 which is ludicrous in my book since I work the IT Field and know when a repair cost is good and when your getting ripped off. After further research online I found IFIXIT. After repairing Lexmark printers myself I knew doing a PS3 would not be that hard and plus IFIXIT was a big help with posting a video as well on the PS3. Ordered the parts needed from IFIXIT and after receiving it started repairs. Followed the directions in regards to properly using the hot air gun as well as properly applying good amount of thermal grease and reassembled and now PS3 comes back to life. IT'S ALIVE!!!! Repair only took me an hour which was totally awesome for me.
My Advice
None so far but want to say thank you IFIXIT and keep doing what your doing. IFIXIT is going to be one of my favorite sites.
