How to replace the battery in your iPhone 5s

30 minutes - 1 hour

Moderate

My Problem

Battery life was declining.

My Fix

Initially appeared to be fine. Then found that the phone's sensors were all inoperative. Discovered that I had *not* kept track of all 4 screws holding the shield over the 3 ribbon connectors *separately*. Once this was resolved, phone worked fine again and the battery life is back to as-new! I would definitely do this again and save time and money.

My Advice

Be sure to use the step-by-step online guide, and not just watch the video. Have a large, well lit area free of clutter to do the work. A magnifying glass in a stand/holder is helpful, and small tweezers are a big help. Take care in retrieving and placing the small components. pick a surface that has something to soften it so that dropped screws don't bounce and roll because you will never find them again. A desk blotter, calendar, or even fine weave cloth (not terry cloth!) should work fine. Use double-sided tape or similar to keep the screws from migrating around on the work surface.
