Got my wife's MacBook Air back up and running!
My Problem
My wife's laptop was dying a slow, temperamental death. My son had spilled water on it a while ago, but after a dry out period, we got it working again. But then we started getting warnings about the battery strength so I took it to Apple. They knew from a previous visit of the water spillage, so they were not willing to do a simple battery replacement because they couldn't guarantee that it would work properly (due to the water incident from some time before).
My Fix
As a result, I wasn't 100% certain that replacing the battery would cure all ills, but I logged onto iFixit and found the instructions for the repair, and it didn't look too bad. I bought the required parts and in less than 20 minutes, my $140 investment paid off big-time: my wife's MacBook is nearly as good as new.
My Advice
This certainly beat the more than $800 that Apple wanted to guarantee it would work properly!
