My Problem

Replace HDD with SSD on late model 2015 iMac 27" 5K retina.

My Advice

Watch the videos a couple of times and take it slow and eazy. Used blue painters tape to hold the display back together to make sure everything works while doing a system restore from a Time Machine backup from a external drive. Once your system is running fine and reboots with no issues then remove the painters tape and seal the display back up with the new adhesive kit. One trick I did was to to apply the adhesive kit to the iMac frame but leave the glass side of the adhesive protective cover on the (sides and top) strips. Then hook up the display cables and tape the display in place with the blue painters tape again. Verify the iMac boots and the display is working (cables are connected properly). Then pull off the blue painters tape while you let the glass fall forward at a 45 degree angle and expose the glass side adhesive strip protective covers enough to pull them off all the way around the glass. Make sure your glass is properly aligned to the bottom edge then press the glass in place to create the bond. Make sure your allignment is perfect before you close because you only get one shot at this because one the glass bonds to the adhesive its their to stay.
