My Problem
Two iPhones acquired a couple of weeks apart, both not holding charge for very long, one of them turned out to be in the group of those with defective battery.
My Fix
The repair process on the first phone was a little scary as the face plate would not come loose using only the suction cup. I tried a razor blade (saw this on tube) and succeeded in scarring the phone's finish and breaking the blade. Finally used a jeweler's screwdriver as a pry bar and got the faceplate loose but produced more scars. The battery was also not easy to pry loose, but I got there. The second phone went easier, less scarring, took about 10 minutes.
My Advice
The suction cup is ineffective , the repair kits should include a thin, hard prying device that can minimize the scarring.
