My Problem
My hard drive had to be replaced, and I didn't want to pay Apple to do it for me.
My Fix
The hardware repair was super simple with the tools and tutorials provided by ifixit.
My Advice
The only negative was that I didn't know I had to partition my drive before i could begin to restore my OS, so I thought I had botched the repair because the computer couldn't find the hard drive. Maybe ifixit should provide a link to "how to partition the drive for use once it's installed" in the "how to replace your hard drive" article.
