My Problem
Daughters mac book pro fails to boot in mid dissertation and guess what no back up. Similar thing happened to me a while back an it cost. So new what to look for. Took out hard drive and managed to boot it using a caddy. Called it the Mac Ood. Dr Who fans should get the reference. Recovered data
My Fix
Repair kit and parts came very quickly and repaired and rebooted and updated mac in about an hour
My Advice
Tell your kid to back up and repeat the advice often.
