My Problem
Battery capacity running out; needed replacement.
My Fix
Piece of cake. My mid-2009 Macbook Pro laptop was "vintage" according to Apple Inc. They would not replace the battery on my still very good computer. Ordered the battery and tools from Ifixit; copied the very simple instructions; donated a half hour of labor. No trouble.
My Advice
Don't buy into the obsolete "vintage" pitch from Apple. Your old-ish computer is probably still a powerful enough tool. If all you ever need is a battery, then don't hesitate to do your own work. A very simple operation with good instructions from Ifixit. Be sure to also get their recommended tools for the job. Those screws are smaller than you might think, and the tool tips are magnetized to prevent dropping screws into the machine. You don't want that.
