My Problem
I was noticing dirt build up on the inside of the gamepad screen. I decided to open it up and see if I could clean it out myself rather than send it to Nintendo for service.
My Fix
It was a bit more involved than I was expecting but the video on Ifixit was a huge help. I was able to clean it out and reassemble it but it was quite a task for me.
My Advice
I bought the tri-wing screw driver because it's the only thing that can remove the screws necessary to remove the gamepad cover . However when I got the cover off I ran into 2 or 3 different sizes of tiny phillips head screws. Luckily I was able to scrounge around in the tool box and find a few tiny flat head screwdrivers that worked. Just a heads up though. You will need the tri-wing screw driver and a couple different sized tiny phillips head screwdrivers to attempt this. Also set aside a good hour or so for this task.
