iPod Nano 4th Generation Battery Replacement

2 - 3 hours

Very difficult

My Problem

The battery failed to hold a charge

My Fix

The only real difficulty was initially opening the case. Had to use a knife to break the glue seal on both ends but after that, your procedure was carefully followed with eventual success

My Advice

To help in re-assembly, I used strips of thin cardboard (from the battery shipping box) to hold the delicate ribbon cables out of the way while re-inserting the logic board and display. This helped keep them flat and not catching on the boards. Slide them out after you complete the step. Also, after the repair was complete, I forgot that I would need a hard reset to get the iPod to work again. Perhaps adding this to the step by step guide would save others from thinking their repair has failed when the key click sounds come through but the display remains blank - just need a full reset!
