My Problem
My Nexus 5 battery, like so many others, had worn down to 6 hours of battery life. I got the battery replacement kit from iFixit and a new battery to swap it out instead of sending the phone off to LG for 3 days and being charged $80.
My Fix
Easy repair in 15 minutes. Plastic opening tools and spudger opened the device with no damage. Magnetic screwdriver got 6 screws out without losing any of them. All pieces reassembled easily, now with 25% longer battery life.
My Advice
When removing the Nexus 5 battery, be careful to do it slowly and get leverage on the sides as well as the bottom. The battery is secured with mild adhesive inside the phone, and I heard a loud "crack" when pulling it out. I hope it's just glue letting go and not the battery snapping because of too much pressure in one spot.
