My Problem
I am hard on phones. I use Lifeproof cases. I dropped my phone into 10f t. of river water and successfully recovered it, and it still worked! Then I tempted fate again and slammed my iPhone into a concrete wall when it flung out my hand at work. Thats when the screen cracked.
My Fix
The repair went smoothly. I referenced the iFixit video and other videos. Magnetized tools that come in the kit are essential. Took me about an hour. Phone works like a charm!
My Advice
One of the most difficult tasks was removing the broken LCD screen. The most effective tool for the job was a clean razor blade. It allows you to gain initial leverage between the metal casing and the screen without any damage. Then immediately switch to the plastic tool to pry the rest of the screen away. I also recommend doing the work on a tray that you can lay all the screws and parts on to remember exactly where they go. The screws are all different lengths!
