Replacing WLAN module in Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Notebook

pjohnson58 -

My Problem

Existing Wi-Fi adapter was single-band and I wanted to replace it with a dual-band module.

My Fix

Replacement was successful, but the PC's BIOS whitelist prevented the new module from operating. So I had to re-install the old one. I've since ordered a different replacement device in hopes the computer will allow the next one to work.

My Advice

I wish I'd known about BIOS whitelists. I would have done more online research before ordering. One piece of advice: When reattaching the antenna leads to this size WLAN card, be careful -- and be VERY patient with yourself. The connectors are very tiny and difficult to line up correctly. On the positive side, Joe in Customer Service steered me toward exactly the right set of tools for disassembling and reassembling this notebook. He said the 54-bit driver kit would contain everything I needed. And he was right!
