My Problem
Changed the battery for a new fresh one.
My Fix
It was quite difficult to remove the screen, but using a lot of muscle I succeeded. Following the instructions it was quite easy to replace the battery. Reassembling was more difficult. The ribbon cables from the screen, home button etc would not tuck into place, so when I put the screen back on it would not seat properly at the top, so I pulled off the screen again and promptly broke the three ribbon cables. Aagh, now I need a new screen assembly.
My Advice
Make sure you tuck the screen ribbon cables back into place before putting the screen back on
