My Problem
A customer brought in a broken, brittle iPad 2. They had dropped it several times, 2 years ago, but with no repair shops in the area they had no way to get it fixed. Until now.
My Fix
Getting the glass off the iPad was difficult, more difficult than it has ever been. I can only attribute that the the long time span between the breaking and the repair. Once I finally got the glass off, I noticed a severed cable. Oh no! I must have severed the power button cable in all my seeing and sawing to get the glass off.
The process of removing the cable component was pretty complicated, but with the ifixit guide I pushed through. Finally got a replacement cable installed, but the power button was not working still! Luckily I had ordered a second, because this was my first PBC repair. So I went at it again with the 2nd cable. This time, success! Everything is put back together, is beautiful and is working.
My Advice
I've done a lot of iPad glass replacements and have never severed the power cable before. I guess just be prepared for new adventures at any step! And for repairs that you are unfamiliar with, order a spare part!
