My Problem
iphone 5 power button - no function - no click, just mushy feel
My Fix
completed. pretty difficult. not too bad as far as opening, motherboard removal, battery removal. removing the power button cable harness and the mute, vol and power switches it some major fiddly work. need the whole harness as it holds the power switch.
My Advice
don't assume you will remember how to "reverse the steps". you wont on a really involved repair. take photos. make good notes. use duct tape sticky side up to hold bits in groups. write on the tape with a sharpie to note groups. Or get the magnetic whiteboard thing iFixit sells which certainly would help. don't drop stuff on the ground. if you are fiddling with screws keep them close to the work surface so if you lose grip they wont travel too far. use magnetized screwdrivers. you can make any screwdriver magnetic by stroking it with a strong fixed magnet for a few minutes. (but keep the magnets away from the motherboard). buy some strong reading glasses to see close up. don't take peyote before attempting an iphone repair.
