My Problem
My dock connector was very loose and I could only get it charge by jiggling the plug just right. Decided I would also replace battery as well.
My Fix
The dock replacement guide has you remove the battery so since it was original I decided to replace it. The guide was very thorough and I only had one hiccup when one of the screws on the dock connector cover did not want to budge. Some careful persuasion and finally got it out - after that everything went per instructions. Phone booted up - everything working great.
My Advice
Follow the guide carefully, don't get creative. The guide did a good job of pointing out the gotchas.
