My Problem

The battery in my 2 year old iPhone was just not holding a charge any longer. So I turned to iFixit and got the job done myself.

My Fix

Overall the repair was successful but not with out a little struggling. The iSlack didn't work very well. I tried a slow steady pull and a more quick pull but the screen just wouldn't snap out. I finally used my prying tool and with the help of the iSlack got the screen off.

The directions were terrific! Especially the comments about what you might encounter. You were right those screws were very, very tiny. This 60 year old had to fall back and get my magnifying glasses out. Once opened the directions got me through the process quickly. The Anti-Static tray was a must for me. It kept the screws and parts in order and made for an excellent reassembly. When put back together and turned back on I got those white lines across my screen. The directions told me exactly what to do to fix it, and after a quick opening (iSlack worked well this time), I repositioned the screen cable and was in business. Thanks for the help and the detailed directions. For a fist time job I couldn't be happier. Just need to look around my house and see what else I have that needs to be taken apart! ;)

My Advice

If you use the iSlack just be patient. Even if it doesn't pop the screen right off it certainly helps a great deal if you have to do a little prying. Definatly get the anti-static tray or the magnetic mat; the screws are wicked small.
