My Problem
My niece dropped and shattered her IPhone 5s screen. After looking at the iFixit iPhone 5s Display Assembly Replacement, I thought I would try replacing the screen myself.
My Fix
I placed tape over the broken screen, before attaching the suction cup. The screen was weak from the cracks, so I used a sharp point of a knife to pry open the screen. Then, with the iFixit guide on my iPad , I went step by step(slowly) and finished the repair in about 30 minutes. My only problem was the home button cable fastener. The fastener came off easy, but I was expecting the cable to be attached to it. Just a minor detail which slowed down my reassembly.
My Advice
I had both the iFixit magnetic mat and the iScrews iPhone Screw tray. A parts holder makes it easier to keep up with the small parts. The magnetic mat is suitable for a screen replacement. The iScrews iPhone Screw Tray would be more helpful with repairs to the iPhone body.
