My Problem

For months there was a clicking noise coming from the left side of my MacBook Pro (late 2008). I thought the hard drive was going bad, but a replacement drive made the same noise. The hard drive manufacturer suggested it was because the drives were much newer than the laptop, and had to "throttle back" to work well, thus the noise. It never occurred to me that it might be a fan going bad that was the culprit, but after replacing three drives, I realized I might have to dig deeper for a solution.

My Fix

I was astounded at how quick and easy the repair went. The step-by-step guide made the process go smooth as silk. I had set aside an afternoon for the fix, and was finished inside of 15 minutes! (Related news: I also decided to clean a friend's MacBook fan, a much more complicated process. It took about an hour, and again the iFixit step-by-step guide made it all possible.)

My Advice

Just take it slow and steady, and you can't go wrong.
