My Problem
short story: brother smashed sisters' iphone 4S into a wall. Display and front glass broke. sister got new iphone from brother. I got the broken one for free. it would be a nice update to my ancient demented iphone 3GS
My Fix
The repair took its time and I'd rate it as difficult. The only problem I had was when the new display was installed and the motherboard was installed, i noticed that the cable from the display was folded so it wasn't long enough to connect to the motherboard. I had to dissemble the whole thing again to pull the cable through completely. After a good hour of work everything was done and the phone worked perfectly. sadly now I noticed that the rear camera is not working as it should be. replacing that will be for another time I guess.
My Advice
First of all: USE THE RIGHT TOOLS or you will f**k everything up!
The repair is difficult. I've repaired my macbook pro several times so I knew more or less what I was doing, but I would recommend ppl who've never done this before to read the guide very carefully. Always watch out for little cables/attachments when removing a component, don't just pull that thing away.
