It's ALIVE!

My Problem

I have an old iPhone 3GS and the battery would no longer hold any charge.

My Fix

I saw iFixIt on line and read the reviews deciding to order it. I followed the instructions with pictures and could complete most of them (could never get the little metal thing under the camera screw). And, I could not get the SIM card back in. Also, I have no sound now. But the battery is great! and works perfectly. I use this older phone (without a contract) to take credit cards (off line) at my craft booth. Then when I get home and can connect to the internet the card information is processed to my bank account. This fix with the new battery works perfectly for my needs and saved me from buying a new phone! So you guys saved me over $200 - $300!!

My Advice

Pay close attention to how the little metal thing is positioned before removing the camera screw. I did not and could never get it back correctly and gave up on it. Before tightening all the screws to the circuit board put in the SIM card to help align it and then tighten them up. I didn't do this and afterward could not get the SIM card back in -- Since I don't use this as a normal phone I didn't care.
