Battery Replacement in 3rd Generation iPod
My Fix
Replaced the battery with no issue and the tools worked great. The batter wires were a little longer so they wouldn't thread around the logic board. I encountered two additional issues after replacing the battery. 1. The pins for the headphone jack pulled out of the plug and were bent. Make sure you are very careful when opening the case!! 2. When I tried to charge the battery, the iPod would not recognize the plug and the battery did not change. I guess one problem down and now two more to go!
My Advice
when opening the case, if easier, you can work the small opener around the opposite direction from the instructions. Worked easier for me.
