My Problem
My mid 2012 refurbished MBP was downright pokey, constant beach ball of death. It had only the stock 4 gigs of ram.
My Fix
I installed 2- 4 gig sticks with nary a hiccup. The guide was spot on (in some ways superior to Apple's own instructions) but did omit the suggestion to discharge any static charge by touching a metal part. That aside, the job took just 15 minutes or so, and went off splendidly.
My Advice
It's fun and empowering to take charge of my stuff. My advice, go slow, read the instructions before you start and believe in yourself. This was my first attempt at a laptop. Sorry I didn't take any photos.
