My Problem
Wife's iPhone 5 with cracked display and kids' 3GS with dead battery. Life had become very difficult for these device-dependent females. Rather than buy full replacements for everyone it was time to roll up the sleeves (with a little help from iFixit of course).
My Fix
As stated many times by other reviewers, watch the iFixit videos as well as others on YouTube to familiarize yourself with the procedures. I spent a number of years early in my career repairing PCs so I had a bit of confidence going in but these are doable for anyone with patience. Devices are good as new and my family thinks I'm a genius. Thanks, iFixit!
My Advice
I stress patience as it is required for working on anything small scale. Be sure to have very good lighting and, for far-sighted folks like me, very good glasses. Take your time and keep screws organized as you remove them. Although tiny they are not all the same size. I have small-to-medium sized hands and can see how larger hands would struggle handling the screws.
