My Problem
Dropped my phone on the kitchen floor and shattered the top right-hand portion of the screen. Rather than paying someone else to fix the screen, I opted to buy the iPhone 5 Display Assembly with Home Button and Front Camera, which was absolutely worth the additional $10 to have the Home Button and Front Camera built in.
My Fix
Nifty little tool kit and very easy to use. Although it might have only taken 15-20 minutes watching a YouTube tutorial, I had someone from our Operations/Tech department who wanted to watch as well, so it ended up being more of a show and tell. The body of the phone was also dented from the drop, so that took some additional time to adjust with needle nose pliers. Even though I appreciated the simplicity of the repair, I ended up with a strange yearning for something more challenging and would have enjoyed doing the full repair with the more "bare bones" version that iFixit sells. There's something so satisfying about repairing something on your own...
My Advice
Although it did take a few days to ship, I taped the front to hold the shards of glass together, which seemed to work fine in the interim.
