Battery and lightning connector replacement on an aging iPhone 5s
My Problem
Battery life dwindling, exacerbated by a flaky lightning connector that would not stay connected.
My Fix
About 90 minutes total, the only real problem was that the adhesive under the battery on both sides broke before it came completely out. I was able to pry up an edge of the old battery and with the pointed end of the spudger to get the adhesive gathered enough to get it going again. All else was smooth and buttery.
My Advice
When replacing the lightning connector, there is a small metal and plastic peice that goes under the home button connector. In the disassembly instructions, the speaker is removed before that piece, which is fine for disassembly. During reassembly, however, it works better to put in the speaker before that piece so you don't have to slide the point of the speaker assembly underneath it.
