My Problem
I had tripped outside and dropped my MacBook *yay* and was Mac-less for about 5 months #FirstWorldProbzzz but it was hard since all of my graphic design stuff was done on it. Anyway, I decided this wouldn't happen to me again and decided to self-install a SSD. Well, my MacBook wouldn't recognize my disk (which in retrospect, I think it was because it needed to be formatted but cest la vie, right?) and after reading forums online, decided to order a new SATA cable from IFIXIT
My Fix
Super easy, instructions were helpful and easy to follow. I can definitely say I was nervous when after all of this my disk still wasn't identified by my computer. But once I read someone mentioning formatting their disk, and I did that, it changed everything. Even if I didn't need a new SATA cable, I feel bomb knowing I have a new drive and a new cable - this baby better last foreverrrrr. I'm really glad I went ahead and got the cable - I can rest easy.
My Advice
If you are having doubts about your cable, go ahead and get a new one anyway. At best, you were right, it was your cable and now all is well in your world. At worst, you didn't necessarily need it but now you have a brand new cable and should be fine for a long, long time.
