My Problem

Took my phone somewhere it shouldn't go, ended up soaking wet. Through the process of cleaning and troubleshooting I determined the screen assembly was shot, as well as the power flex.

My Fix

Repair went flawlessly. Followed iFixit's guide on the screen disassembly as well as replacement - made things much easier than if I were to take it apart myself and hope I know what to do. I did not purchase the flex cable from iFixit (I cheaped out and got one off of eBay - big mistake as the mute switch was broken right out of the box). Once I got a quality flex cable replacement, I replaced all necessary parts and my phone is alive once again! For those wondering, the digitizer/LCD assemblies sold at iFixit are of amazing quality. I wasn't so sure what to think, as this was my first time purchasing from iFixit and I have been burned in the past by other vendors. My worry was put at ease as soon as I took the screen out of the shipping box (which is well packaged, by the way). It is the exact quality of my original phone screen, no dead pixels, beautiful colors. Happy customer!

My Advice

I cannot stress this enough, make sure you have the PROPER sized screwdriver (most screws are #000 phillips) with a magnetized tip. These screws are relatively difficult to put back in once they are taken out, if you don't have the proper tools. I had to make do with my tiny flathead screwdriver which worked - but I spent much more aggravating time trying to put the screws back in.
