Easy

My Problem

Macbook Pro failed to boot with flashing (?) folder, Asked around and took it to Best buy for a diagnosis and they said my hard drive failed. I bought a brand new SSD and installed it myself but Disk Utility was not able to partition or format the SSD to install OSX. The problem must have been the cable then, so I bought an external enclosure to test my old HDD and whatdoyouknow, its perfectly fine, so the problem myst be the cable.

My Fix

Pretty well, I replaced the cable within fifteen minutes from open to close. At first i thought the thin ribbon was too long and would not fit, but once you press it down with the adhesive and press it into the corner, it fits almost perfectly. This was my first repair (besides replacing the HDD earlier, and it went pretty smoothly

My Advice

If you are confident in yourself, dont trust big name computer repair services, they wanted to charge me $50 to install a new HDD, and $100-300 (I forgot tbh) to install OSX, plus the cost of a new HDD when that wasnt even the problem in the first place. I don't know how good applecare would have been but I did not go to the apple store with my problem because of personal reasons. Believe in yourself and anything is possible.
