My Problem

One day, my macbook simply stopped booting. A question mark had just appeared in boot screen. I thought: "no panic, it must be the hard drive". Well, I changed the hard drive and the problem persisted. So, I searched for similar problems in the Internet and found that it might be the SATA cable and that iFixit have it. I bought a cable replacement and, even living in Brazil, it came very fast (four days only).

My Fix

The repair is very straightforward. I just had to open the bottom case, disconnected the battery cable to prevent electrical problemas, took off the hard drive from the bad cable, disconnected the bad cable and connected the new one, then the hard drive on it, connect the battery cable and the close the bottom case. I turned the Macbook on and it worked fine, no more folder with question mark in boot screen!

My Advice

If you have a Macbook Pro and it suddenly stopped booting, showing a folder with a question mark on the screen, there is a chance of a bad SATA cable.
