How I saved my iMac

My Problem

3 years old 27" iMac would not turn on. No ventilation noise, no led. And, as confirmed to the guy from Apple Care, yes, it was plugged.

My Fix

Took around one good episode of Castle, half of the time being spent on looking at the comatose iMac and alternating between: "I cannot do this, I definitely cannot do this" and "what if I touch the exposed rear of the power supply and die".

My Advice

I would get a Probe and Pick set / tool because I damaged 10 paperclips and tested my nerves when I had to lift the display (step 4).

Also, I would include a good cleaning cloth in the essentials. Even in the most remote corner of the house, my screen and the glass panel managed to attract all the dust particles on a 20m range.
