My Problem
Our Wii would not read disks. We just used it for Netflix for a while, and were about ready to throw it away. Thought about trying IFIXIT and found that I could get a new drive for about $50. Drive showed up very fast after the order. Took less than an hour to install, and Wii is now working as good as new.
This is great because we have a lot invested in games and related equipment, and because my daughter is thrilled to have a game console. (we aren't big into games, and the Wii is plenty for us).

My Fix
Repair went well. Followed instructions. Kept close track of what screws came out of what locations. Really glad I ordered the 3 blade screw driver.
My Advice
Make sure you have a 3 blade screw driver. The only concern I had was getting the ribbon cable back in straight. It doesn't really have a connecter, just a lid to compress the cable end to the connecting spot.
