MagSafe Magsavings by doing it myself!
David -
My Problem
I believe some mysterious elves or possibly a couple of labs broke the MagSafe DC-in Board on my MacBook Pro.
My Fix
The process went without a hitch. The iFixit website helped me from the start by guiding me through the process of determining the problem and the proper replacement part, along with the necessary tools for the job that were specific to my particular MacBook Pro. The instruction guide and photos were thorough and easy to follow. Once I removed the part, I worked back through the instructions to replace the damaged part and reassemble the computer.
My Advice
Don't be afraid...to save yourself at least $300 by bypassing the Apple store. I have to admit that the first time I viewed the instructions and photos I had my doubts. But I was able to complete the repair without any difficulty. I would recommend reading through the entire set of instructions and viewing the photographs within each step before you begin. I also used a piece of paper and tape to keep all screws and parts in order, and labeled each one with the step and color circle in each photo.
