Repair Stories

My Problem

The battery died in my Ipod, and while its an old model it still works perfectly ok. Took it to a local support provider and the message was that there was no chance of getting a battery in NZ. Quick google search later, an order to iFixit, and the a week or so later a replacement turns up.

My Fix

I simply . . .

My Problem

ipod charge time was bad

My Fix

Ended up breaking the glass.

My Advice

I wouldn't recommend replacing the battery without replacing the glass at the same time. Trust me ... I was patient in prying the glass up. I even had protective film on the glass ...

My Problem

Battery was going out on my touch 3g and I have replaced 2 on Ipod video 30 g.

My Fix

Bought new battery @ Amazon, but failed to include touch in the description (touch 3g). Bought right battery from Ifixit. Unfortunately I watched the videos on Utube to replace battery which did not explain that there ar . . .

My Problem

Battery on last legs....

My Fix

The repair guide was pretty good. This replacement is not for the amateur. You must be patient AND you must be comfortable with soldering. If both are not descriptive of your gifts/talents, I highly recommend that your product professionally repaired!

My Advice

1. Opening a iPod req . . .

My Problem

Battery not holding charge for longer than 1 day.

My Fix

Haven't done it yet don't like loosing music on itouch. Lol. Have done twice before on other iPods which went successfully.

My Advice

Yes don't be nervous, don't be nervous. Once you open it your committed so you might as well finish. Then just sit back and p . . .

My Problem

My battery was lasting less than a day with very minimal use. It was replace the battery or leave it plugged in for use, so I gambled the money for a battery replacement, in spite of the predicted difficulty. My previous repair of an iPod Mini was successful, but the Gen 3 is less repair friendly. . . .

My Problem

We were too trusting of a CL seller, and believed her story about why the ipod wouldnt turn on (she said that she has to abort the software restore process in order to meet us at the appointed time, so it wouldn't turn on) , 'but it works just fine, trust me'. Yeah, right. It works just fine as lo . . .

My Problem

I use the iTouch daily, to listen Pandora and read the newspaper.

My Fix

The tools were broken before the screen removal.

My Advice

Be patient, and remove the screen carefully. Excellent instructions (step by step).

My Problem

Most expensive for me, anyway. my 3rd gen 64GB ipod went through a complete wash cycle. It started in my jeans pocket and ended up in the bottom of the washtub. After soaking in rice for a week, still no joy, so I took it apart to see all the pretty guts. Then left it sitting on the counter--in piec . . .

My Problem

Ipod touch got wet and never recovered after drying out thoroughly. Can't get the device to show any life. Normal reset procedure shows no activity at all.

My Fix

I thought the battery may be dead, so I replaced it. Did not help.

I did tear off the digitizer flex circuit in the process. Wow is that d . . .
