My friend was offered $38 for his iPhone 4S because the (+) volume button and the power button were broken. After $50 in parts/tools, he received $220 for the fixed phone. Fixed bad volume down button and port connector.

My Fix

Very hard install on the volume control. If you are not comfortable with the very small parts do not try.

My Advice

Utilize some type of glue to help stick the tiny parts together besides the adhesive they come with.

Went OK but part had defective head phone jack so had to order another part and do a second time. Part cost is low so I expect the quality of the parts might be suspect.

I fixed both the iPhone 4 Headphone Jack & Volume Control Cable and Home Button Assembly by replacing both two parts. I also replaced the bottom screws for philips screws for easier future repairs or batte . . .

The disassembly went smooth with your step-by-step guide. A little problem came up with the removal of the silence switch. A small piece of metal came off of the back of the switch and I had some difficulty figuring out how to reassemble the switch and there . . .

volume and mute buttons did not work. After initial openning of iPhone, the ribbon control cable was severed.

My Fix

When iFixit says a repair is "Difficult" they are serious. Be sure to have the iFixit Pro tool kit for these type of repairs. If I hadn't ordered it with my replacement part I don't think . . .
