My Problem

broken glass

My Fix

it was tricky, but I managed to get all the tiny pieces in place and the phone works perfectly.

My Advice

This is really a 2-person job. My wife held things in place for me while I placed tiny screws and other bits in there proper positions. I don't think i could have done it alone. Also, when you put the phone back together, make sure to slide the bottom edge (the edge with the ribbon cables) in first. There's a small tab that fits in on that side, and if you don't slide it in first the panel won't snap on correctly. Once I did that I set the glass surface on a flat table, and firmly pushed down on the back of the phone, applying even pressure without bending the glass. If you try to snap the glass on by pushing with your fingers on the front, the glass bends and distorts in a way that made me worried it might crack.

My Problem

iPhone 5 screen broken completely

My Fix

The steps provided by fixit.com is enough to do. Before going to do repair, please watch the video and follow the steps, only hurdle I faced is re-assemble, especially to attach display assembly ports, screw for ports (3 screws!) took me little more time, because its delicate and my screw driver is not working the way to release the screws in the appropriate place to put back the screws ! Finally done successfully.

One note, you don't need to disconnect battery, Just turn power off your phone... that's enough and buy/get all necessary tools for this

otherwise it's very difficult to do.

Now it's working perfectly, First time right!.

I took photo after the replacement of screen!...

My Advice

buy a complete set of

iPhone 5 Display Assembly (LCD, Front Panel/Digitizer Only) always from trusted source. Don't buy cheap and it

with iOpener and Magnetic Project Mat will greatly help you to re-assemble quickly!

Carefully remove the broken glass it may hurt you and dispose safely.

My Problem

The screen on my iPhone 5 was smashed.

My Fix

It went really nice. Having a step-by-step guide with visuals is a game changer!

A bit confused at step 14 though, couldn't find the part listed in my phone.

My Advice

Would in addition get the Anti-Static Project Tray to keep screws ordered.

My Problem

Change from Samsung flip (Old School) to IPhone 5 (newer smart phone but older model)

My Fix

1. Replaced battery because the other one fried.

2. Replaced front screen because it would do things on it's own.

Now everything works and it does not go crazy by itself.

My Advice

Take your time and work in a clean environment where you can find tiny screws.

My Problem

screen cracked and needed to replace it.

My Fix

It was easy to follow the instructional videos.

My Advice

keep up the good work!

My Problem

Dropped phone and cracked the screen.

My Fix

Was straight forward. Followed the online instructions and phone screen works great!

My Advice

I would say use the video, there are some steps that can be scary and having the video to watch and make sure you are doing it right really helps, a lot!

My Problem

I was working on an email on a brief break between work and an evening meeting, and dropped the phone from knee height, which broke the screen leaving the entire top left corner of the screen missing, to the point you could see the digitizer behind the glass.

My Fix

the repair went smoothly. i hadn't realized quire how small some of the screws were, or how fine the ribbon ables were. somehow i manages to maintain composure and complete the prpair without tearing anything.

My Advice

keep a screw organizer handy and have an open workspace with a raised lip around the edge if possible

My Problem

I bought an iPhone from a friend who completely destroyed his. I had to replace the screen and power button because the phone was in BAD condition (see pictures)

My Fix

Repair is very easy, took me only 30 minutes. No issues taking the screen off or putting the new one on! Also, the part I got from ifixit is good quality.

My Advice

If you don't have tools specially for an iPhone, buy the fix kit! It comes with a Pentalobe screwdriver needed to get the bottom screws off!!!

My Problem

My son shattered his iphone 5 front display.

My Fix

This is the second screen I've replaced using ifixit tools and parts. The online videos and guides are very helpful. I was about to complete it in about 45 min.

My Advice

Follow the directions and use the notes other users have left

My Problem

The display of my iPhone 5 shattered when it landed on the sidewalk after flipping out of my coat pocket!

My Fix

The repair went very smoothly...instructions were spot-on every step of the way. The most difficult part for me was separating the front panel from the body of the phone, and then re-connecting the cables was a bit tedious getting them to line up with the ports...but the parts fit and work perfectly!

My Advice

Things to keep in mind - use a heat gun or heating bag (like the one in the video) to loosen the home button cable from the body when removing it from the old display or you could rip it, and be careful when removing the home button from the old front as well (don't rip the surrounding adhesive, you want to remove it with the button).
