My Problem

Mon Ipod classic ne tenait plus la charge qu'une quinzaine de minutes.

My Fix

En suivant la notice d'iFixit j'ai réussi à retrouver les capacités de mon appareil.

My Advice

Devant la compacité de l'appareil il n'est pas évident de forcer dessus. Cependant il ne faut pas hésiter pour accéder à la batterie.

My Problem

My HDD cable stopped functioning a little while ago, and I used iFixit to diagnose, purchase a replacement and replace the cable. Since I've been meaning to replace my HDD with a SSD to breathe new life into my slow MacbookPro Early 2011, I ordered an SSD (for the boot drive) but decided to keep the HDD (used Disk Utility to verify the health of the HDD) as a second drive. Additionally, I don't remember the last time I used the optical drive on my laptop, so when I found I could swap it out, I decided to try some DIY.

My Fix

Bought the upgrade kit from iFixit, since I also wanted a minimal good set of precision screwdrivers. Opened up the laptop and followed the step-by-step instructions on the iFixit guide. It took me about an hour since I also cleaned the interior as I worked. It went well, and I now have a responsive and roomy laptop.

My Advice

Use a system for screw management since there are quite a few; all of which are slightly different. Take your time with the more involved steps making sure all cables are disconnected and out of the way before you remove the components from the body. If, like me you are trying to catch an old laptop up with the times, I also recommend upgrading your RAM (which I did).

My Problem

I had a battery issue in my MacBook Pro. I removed the battery using the tri-point and a few hours later, my girlfriend who is attending college 6 hours away informed me that she had a battery issue in her MacBook, too. I decided to ship the screwdriver I had to her so that she could use it at her leisure and order me a new one.

My Fix

Since it was a battery issue and since it was Apple, I ended up making an appt with the Genius Bar to get an OEM battery straight from Apple. The only way that I am aware of to get my hands on an OEM battery. When you pay more than $2,000 for a laptop, I don't want an $80 knock-off damaging it. The repair ended uneventfully...after waiting a week for an appt that suited me, they replaced it for $125.

My Advice

Everything went pretty smooth. The Apple store was understanding. I had to remove the battery to get the laptop booted back up so I could take an image of my hard drive. The end-result was mostly, I had to get my data and send my tri-point to my girlfriend...so I bought myself another one. Advice, by two of these if you have more than one MacBook in your circle :)
