Repair Business Toolkit + iFixit Pro ¶

We want to make it easy for you to start your own businesses. Turn your garage workstation into a storefront—no franchise fee, no subscription. iFixit Pro empowers repair technicians to start and grow their business with free online repair guides, business development wikis, design/marketing resources, and a vibrant community of repair businesses online.

The Repair Business Toolkit is the companion to our online resources. Just like iFixit Pro is everything you need to know to start a repair business, the Repair Business Toolkit is everything you need to have to start a repair business.

It's Everything You Need to Start a Repair Business ¶

The foundation of the repair business toolkit is our favorite tool combo: the All-new Pro Tech Toolkit and Magnetic Project Mat. With these two items, the repair possibilities are nearly limitless. The Pro Tech toolkit has all the poking, prying, twisting, opening, lifting, grounding, and screwing tools you'll need on a daily basis. Meanwhile, the Magnetic Project Mat is the repairperson's personal assistant. Keeping notes, organizing screws and parts, this mat makes sure that your repair goes smoothly the first time and every time.

While the 64 Bit Driver Kit included in the Pro Tech Toolkit has a screwdriver bit for just about every screw under the sun, sometimes it's important and convenient to have a set of fixed-bladed drivers for the most common screw turning needs. We've included the Pro Tech Screwdriver Set set as a comprehensive set of screwdrivers dedicated to small electronics repair. Each screwdriver is made of high-quality SVCM steel with a rubberized, ergonomic grip and color-coded swiveling cap.

Turning screws is just half the battle when it comes to opening electronics, so we've also included a bunch of extra opening tools, spudgers, opening picks, suction cups, and --for the adhesive removal-- an iOpener. The plastic of the opening tools and picks is designed to open up miniscule gaps in devices, yet yield before you break or scratch or damage the device you're working on. With the heavy duty lifting power of the suction cups, there won't be a panel you can't lift, especially when combined with the targeted heat application of the iOpener. If adhesive-laden devices like iPads give you a headache, then the iOpener is your ibuprofen—it's the easiest way to get at the insides of iPads and other glue-laden devices without using expensive hardware.

We wanted to make it easy to take your repairs on the road, so we designed the iFixit Messenger Bag specifically to fit all these tools. This fashionable and utilitarian bag comfortably fits all the tools in the Repair Business Toolkit as well as any laptop up to 15".

And finally, we want you to fix in style. So, we've included a Repair Manifesto, iFixit Skill Badge, and iFixit Lapel Pin.

Happy fixing!

Iphone 6 plus screen replacement

My Fix

My Advice

Organized and patience

My Problem

Well to start off, when I received my parts the 5s lighting connector and the 6 display assembly looked good, were sealed and looked like new parts should, but the iPhone 4 display assembly didn't looked like a used part, with what looked like a make shift screen protector on it, and upon further inspection, there was a fine diagonal scratch across the upper right corner, which i almost sent it back, but wanted to get started on my repairs and i guess this really should have went in the "How'd it go?" section but any! The reason I'm fixing it, is our company has over 300 Apple devices, and here in Casper Wyoming the only Apple repair shop stopped doing phone repairs, I work in the IT Dept,as an Administrator, more or less that handles/manages the Verizon account. So I thought what a better time to add something else to my skill set!

My Fix

All the repairs went fairly well, and I imagine took longer than most people, because I wanted to be sure that i got it right the first time, but of course it all "attention to details" when it comes to repairing any device, and do I mean the "little" ones! lol There was a couple of times when I totally got the device reassembled only to discover that I laid the logic board on top on the rear facing camera connection! :) I think one of the biggest obstacles when doing repairs for me is outside distractions. Working in an environment where there is or where you have more than 2 or 3 things going at once, can be a bit of a extra challenge!

My Advice

My advice is, if you are just starting out like I am, watch the breakdown guides a couple of times before you start your repair, have the right tool/tools for the job, take your time, especially when it comes to disconnecting connections where you can easily damage it, i.e. antennas! Oh well on to "Micro-soldering" Yeah Baby!!! :)

My Problem

the screen was proken

My Fix

it was very easy to replace with the compatible professional tools that i got (ifixit) , as i was trying before with the traditional tools that i have at home but with a very complicated and time wasting way. but with ifix it tools i made it.

My Advice

always use the proper tools to save you time and money.

My Problem

The screen was all shattered and really horrible but with the business repair kit had everything to solve that problem !!!!!! took me about 40 min just to take off the glass but other than that the repair was a success. Thank You iFixit! :)

My Fix

It went well and pretty fun actually

My Advice

Becareful with the flex cables that are around the screen luckily i didny rip mine but they are usually stuck to the screen so he really careful when prying the glass up.

My Problem

IFixit

We bought the business repair toolkit so my 7 year old and I can fix our various gadgets that always need repairing. Our maiden repair with the kit was replacing the motor, main gear shaft and bearings on our drone:

My Fix

Great. It was a simple fix, requiring only a few screws, but having the perfect sized Philips the confidence of never losing those tiny screws thanks to the magnetic mat, made it all fun fixing with zero frustration .

My Advice

A bonus with the mag mat while working with little ones is they love writing and drawing on the mat, which helps keep them focused on the task at hand.

My Problem

Everything breaks eventually and we get asked to fix it. We needed some good tools for our computer repair center.

My Fix

These tools are going to make our jobs easier. We've used them for a few projects already and we suspect they'll last us years and headaches to come.

My Advice

Go with iFixit branded tools. They won't let you down or disappoint you. The repair business kit bag even has a compartment for my MacBook Pro which is freaking awesome and made me feel like my purchase was even more money well spent. Just a note that any 17 inch computer probably won't fit in the bag and a 15 inch is stretching it in terms of accessibility.
