My Problem

In a fit of retard rage, I threw my Kindle and shattered the screen. The digitizer was fine, but the lcd cracked. I was going to change the lcd only, but man, what a pain in the arse.

My Fix

It was easy. The directions on here were easy to follow. Only thing that was difficult was that the reassembly never mentioned that you need to put the charging port in first. I have to disassemble again, but no problems.

My Advice

My Problem

cracked screen on Kindle

My Fix

no problems

My Advice

just replace as an assembly, don't try just glass only.

My Problem

Cracked screen

My Fix

Easy to follow directions. Completed in about 30 minutes

My Advice

Take your time on sensitive parts

My Problem

I violated the house rules and left my Kindle on the hood of my wife's car. She drove off--and BAM--broken, shattered touch screen.

My Fix

The repair was straight forward given the step by step instructions on this site and other sites.

My Advice

Don't leave your device on a car. Stick to a set of rules about placement of the device--not on the floor, not on anything that can move, always have a protective cover of some kind--vanity is a waste of money if you drop your device and a protective but ugly cover would have saved you $$. And have the right set of tools and a repair budget or device insurance/warranty plan in place just in case you violate those rules--a few $ paid early will save $$$ later.

My Problem

My screen is cracked. Got a new screen. Bought a new cable from ifixit.

My Fix

Replaced the cable thinking that was the problem but it still does same as old one. Which is : the backlight comes on (its hard to tell) but nothing shows up on the screen. I have hooked it up via hdmi cable to the tv and there i do see my usuall background so the base part is still ok.

I could use some guisence from this point cause i have no clue what to do now.

My Problem

The front glass was shattered from a careless young person. The screen was difficult to see in the cracked portion, and the touch response was affected by the shattered glass.

My Fix

This repair went off without a hitch, in other words, it was fairly simple. I really liked how the part I Got from iFixit was just the right part, the whole assembly, and not just the screen with no frame. The entire back came off the old Kindle, and the new screen attached with 2 ribbon cables, and it snapped back together. It was a very straightforward and simple effort, no screws or remembering where parts go.

My Advice

The hardest part is getting the Kindle split in two down the seam. Take your time and don't get frustrated.

My Problem

Screen broken, grandkids sat on it

My Fix

EASY!!!

My Advice

These folks are GREAT!!

My Problem

The screen was cracked and glass falling out, still worked fine though.

My Fix

It was so easy, ridiculously easy!! Only took about 10 minutes, and that was with me being super cautious. Nothing exploded, no rogue ravens or anything. Seems a lot of people were having problems with putting it back together, but I just slid the flex cable back in and snapped the little black tab down.

My Advice

Takes a bit to get the screen halves apart, be careful.

My Problem

Kid smashed the kindle fire 8.9" lcd and it needed to be replaced.

My Fix

It was easy. It took about 30 minutes from begin to end. I used a library card to separate the two pieces. Insert in one corner, slide down and around and carefully separate the two pieces.

My Advice

Be very careful with the flex cable tabs that hold the cables into place. Also, you will not know if the repair is completely done and working until you've snapped the two pieces back together. The tablet will light up and the screen will turn on so you can see it functioning, but the power buttons, etc. will not work until it is completely back together.
