Important: To ensure compatibility with the 2009 and 2010 21.5" or 27" iMac, the replacement hard drive must be of the same brand as the original. The model number of the hard drive does not matter as long as the brand matches. 2011 and up iMacs cannot be supported by us.

This drive offers 2 terabytes of storage space for your desktop computer while performing well above other 2TB 3.5" drives.

Hybrid technology from Seagate combines SSD and traditional hard drive technology to provide SSD speeds from an affordable high capacity hard drive. Adaptive Memory technology keeps the files and file types you access the most ready and available for instant transfer from SSD.

No software or operating system requirements, Adaptive Memory technology is self-contained and works like any SATA drive.

HDD-failure

My Fix

Slow tempo about an hour. No problems and no mistakes, thanks to the guide of Brittany McCrigler: iMac Intel 24" EMC 2134 and 2211 Hard Drive Replacement

My Advice

The only thing that I didn't follow, was step 11 "disconnect the LCD cable by pulling down". I disconnected it from the lcd-screen itsel . . .

My Problem

The problem was I listened to my computer experts in the repair business. Approximately 3 months after my warranty on IMAX ran out my computer completely shut down. Being most computer illiterate and needing it for my business I immediately took my IMAX into the computer experts, a high profile comp . . .

My Problem

S.MA.R.T read error would not let me upgrade to OS X Yosemite.

My Fix

Repair was straight forward. I nearly ruined the Monitor Connection when I first removed the monitor to check the HDD, The instructions given on the guide are clear, I just misread them. Second time around I didn't remove the monitor.

My Problem

After loading Yosemite and more and more documents and programs the imac mid 2010 worked in some parts to slow and with irregularities. So in a first step I doubled the RAM from 4 to 8 GB. The actual next step was to increase the storage capacity from a 0.5 HD to a 2 TB SSD Hybrid 3.5".

My Fix

My Problem

2008 iMac was getting increasingly slow. No problems diagnosed—it was just getting old, taking ages to open applications—and driving me nuts. I was nervous about putting an SSD into my iMac—having to remove the screen, etc.—seemed a bit daunting.

My Fix

Had the whole job done within an hour. So much . . .
