Description

Replace a stripped or missing screw securing the lower case of all 13 inch, most 15 inch, and all 17 inch Unibody model MacBook Pro laptops.

Set includes three 14 mm phillips #00 screws and seven 3 mm phillips #00 screws.

Note

Check for your model carefully in the compatibility list. The excluded Unibody models are the Late 2008 and Early 2009 15" MacBook Pro Unibody. These models have a separate battery access panel on the lower case and a different set of screws for the remaining lower case panel.

My Problem

starting to fix some old favorite MacBooks around the house

My Fix

first iFixit project: replaced a fan in a 2006 MacBook 1,1 and a dead battery in the same 2006 MacBook. now i feel like i'm ready to learn how to replace the display. and upgrade the 350GB HD to 5400rpm or 7200rpm or 10000rpm 2TB HD or SSH . . .

My Problem

I had missing screws.

My Fix

I ordered a new set and installed them quickly and easily. iFixit is the best.

My Advice

Always order from iFixit!

The original battery had become swollen, and I needed to replace the battery.

My Fix

The repair went really well, although I had removed the (original) battery previously - to prevent it from possibly leaking and ruining the computer.

When I got the battery, I set it to the side until I had my computer set . . .

The screws on my used Macbook Pro were really stripped, and my hard drive was failing.

My Fix

It went great! Screws came in time, and I completed the replacement in minimal time.

My Advice

Remember to buy the appropriate screwdrivers for the repair. I used a Phillips 00 and 0. Also remember to make a Recovery USB, so . . .

Increased RAM from 6MB to 8MB / Replaced rubber footings / Upgraded HD to 1TB SSD

My Advice

When ghosting/cloning your harddrive, be sure to pick a cloning software that is easy to use.

My Problem

The old battery didn't have much life left in it, but that was actually the smaller problem. The battery had gotten to the point where it had swollen so much that it was pushing up on the bottom of the track pad made clicking impossible. I had to enable some of the multi-touch features just to be ab . . .

the back cover of my mac pro was growing old so i thought why not change it and get a new one and the screws were old so.
