A few weeks ago the rubber coating released it self, caused by the heat, from the lowercase of our Macbook, end 2009 version. Because the Apple replacement program was not applied on this Macbook, I decided to repair it my self. The Macbook is in perfect state, including 4GB memory and running Yosemite, 10.10 OS X.
The repair was easy to do. The order (the lowercase and screws) from iFixit arrived very quickly, within four days to the Netherlands, well done! The Macbook lost some screws by the time, so I replaced them as well.
Use a proper screw-tool that fits exactly to the small screws on the lowercase. I placed small feet, 3 mm in height, on each corner on the lowercase. So the heat can flow under the lowercase in the air.

I wasn't able to use my Mac because of the fan. As soon as I would turn it on, it would start over heating and made it go really slow due to the heat. Finally I decided to order the parts to fix it.
The repair went very smoothly! Of course I already have a lot or technical experience since I'm a certified repair technician. Only thing I wish I would have ordered were some pliers. Other then that, everything was perfect!
Have a pair of small pliers ready just in case you need them.

The 5400RPM HDD had seen better days. It was slow, slow, slow. Also installed a total of 4GB of Ram. It now performs like a much newer system. I think we have a couple more years of productive use from it.
The repair went very smooth. Since I had the Pro Tech Toolkit, all the steps where easy as I had the right tool for the job.
When an upgrade like this is being done, I would suggest that you put a recommendation to use some compressed air and dust out the cooling fan while it's all apart. I always do that when ever I open a machine up.
