My Problem
I read that some people suggest to change the cable as it is not keeping up with SSD SATA 3 devices very good. I had a repeating issue of files corruption so I had to try it
My Fix
So far so good , too early to say if this fixed the issue.
My Advice
very easy.
My Problem
incompatibilità del cavo Apple originale con dischi SSD
My Fix
Bene
My Advice
è necessario formattare gli HD usati con il cavo originale e installare da zero il sistema operativo (Os X 10.9).
My Problem
Original HD sata cable failed and decided to put a new faster drive in while adding a second HD in the optical bay.
My Fix
Just like the guide described...except I had purchased a HD with a 6gb/sec transfer rate and it gave me problems. Upon further research it appears that my late 2011 macbook pro has reliability issues with this speed of transfer. So I just used the original HD in the optical bay, maybe one day I'll put something else there but for now it'll work.
My Advice
If you are putting a second hard drive in this model macbook make sure you get a 3gb/sec HD, it'll work right the first time.
My Problem
I installed an SSD on my MBP Early 2011 model 15" using the excellent instructions on iFixit. It ran for a half hour then the MBP froze. The SSD was no longer recognized.
I reinstalled the old HDD and connected the SSD via USB and the SSD was there with no issues.
After research I found that the OEM SATA Cable was not quite up to spec. I ordered a new one from iFixit. iFixit was the only source I could find that was trustworthy.
My Fix
I installed the new cable according to the excellent instructions from iFixit and the problem was solved. No drama, worked first time and my MBP is now far, far better than new.
My Advice
If you have a MBP 2011 model an SSD and 16mb RAM can add dramatic improvement for 2-3 hundred dollars.
If the SSD acts up immediately or even a little later the Cable is most likely the culprit. Don't give up until you've replaced the cable.
My Problem
After excitedly replacing my hard drive, I noticed my laptop was not identifying said hard drive! I was terrified the drive was broken or that I accidentally shocked it to death (even though I was clad in ESD safe stuff). Trying not to have a mental breakdown, I examined everything near the hard drive only to discover the cable connecting it to the logic board had a slight rip in it!
My Fix
After ordering the replacement cable and spudger, I easily replaced it, delicately. The cable has been working great :) Thanks iFixit!
My Advice
Advice to everyone: be gentle with that hard drive cable. Treat it like a pretty butterfly.
