Speakers were making a lot of screeching noise at anything but very low volume

My Fix

The guide was excellent - I was super afraid I will damage something as it's the first time I open a laptop in my life (I assmbled PCs in the past but the last time was 15 years ago

My Advice

My Problem

The old speaker was blown. Sounded terrible.

My Fix

It went well.

My Problem

Blame Boom2. This app boosts the sound way over the spec, wreaking havoc to the speakers.

My Fix

It's tedious but thanks to the detailed instruction on iFixit site, the repair went smoothly.

My Advice

Don't use Boom2.
